Award Nominations

Award Categories

You are invited to submit nominations in recognition of a technician or instructor who has demonstrated outstanding CPS contributions during 2011. This is the second annual national award program by The National Child Passenger Safety Board to honor the men and women who dedicate their time and skills to ensure our nation's children are transported safely. You have likely experienced first-hand, some of the outstanding work that goes on in the field of child passenger safety and this is a wonderful opportunity for you to recognize a deserving technician or instructor who shows extraordinary dedication to Child Passenger Safety programs.

Nominations are accepted in the following categories:

Child Passenger Safety Technician of the Year:

This individual must be a currently certified CPS Technician who shows extraordinary dedication to and support of Child Passenger Safety programs and activities during the year. This individual should enthusiastically support their local, state and/or national level CPS program(s) including car seat check-up events, educational programs, etc. This individual should successfully educate caregivers on how to transport their child(ren) safely based on NHTSA's best practices in a positive and patient manner.

Child Passenger Safety Technician Instructor of the Year:

This individual must be a currently certified CPS Technician Instructor. The individual must show extraordinary dedication to Child Passenger Safety programs in their local community, state or national activities during the year. The ideal nominee is active and current on new and emerging technologies and information. He or she should contribute and demonstrate dedication to the continuation and expansion of the National Child Passenger Safety certification program by means of participation in CPS activities. The individual should have exemplary teaching skills and serve as a resource to students and CPST's in their area.

Winners must agree to have their names and pictures publicized. Winners will be announced and recognized nationally. All winners, nominators and nominees will be recognized on the CPS Board web site, in the CPS Express and the Tech Update.

Nomination and Review Process

The National Child Passenger Safety Board is accepting nominations in recognition of outstanding CPS contributions during 2011 by Technicians and Instructors. This is the annual national award program honored by The National Child Passenger Safety Board to the men and women who dedicate their time and skills to ensure our nation’s children and their families are transported safely in car seats, boosters and in safety belts, actively reducing the number of motor vehicle deaths and injuries among children in our country. Each winner will be awarded $500, courtesy of AAA.

Nomination Deadline:

The deadline for nominations is January 2, 2012. Late nominations will NOT be accepted or considered.

Eligibility:

  • No 2010 or 2011 member of National CPS Board may nominate, or be nominated for, this award.
  • All nominees must be currently CPS certified during the full review process.
  • Individuals are only eligible for their national Certification level, either Certified Technician or Certified Instructor.
  • Should any applicant be nominated in an incorrect category, it will be corrected automatically.

PLEASE NOTE THAT NOMINATIONS ARE NOT VALID UNLESS SUBMITTED USING THE ONLINE NOMINATION FORMAT.

Nomination Review:

Each application will be blindly (no identifiers) evaluated by members of the National CPS Board using a scale of 1-10 in each section. Please be detailed in your description of the nominee’s activities. Avoid using last names, titles and organization names in the narrative. In the event of a tie, additional CPS Board members will be called upon for further review.

Notification of Results:

The winner must agree to have their name and picture publicized. Winners will be announced and recognized at the 2012 Lifesavers conference. All winners, nominators and nominees will be recognized on the CPS Board website and in the CPS Express and the Tech Update.
