Checkup Clinics and Inspection Stations Child passenger safety (CPS) certification workshops are designed to teach individuals the technical and instructional skills to serve as child passenger safety resources for their organization, community or state. CPS Technicians and Instructors put their knowledge to work through a wide variety of programs and activities, including public safety seat checkup clinics and permanent inspection stations. Clinics and inspection stations are two of the ways in which CPS Technicians and Instructors provide education and "hands-on" assistance in the proper use of child restraint systems and seat belts to parents and other care givers. Clinics are conducted as one type of public service to enable the general population to have their child restraint systems (CRS's) assessed for correct restraint selection, for correct harnessing of the child in the CRS, and for correct installation of the CRS in the vehicle. In addition to events scheduled by community organizations, child restraint checkup clinics are scheduled as a part of CPS certification workshops. Refer to CPS Technician Certification Workshops for information about these workshops. Inspection stations are permanent locations where parents can have their child restraint systems checked for correct selection, harnessing, and installation. Most inspection stations provide this service through scheduled appointments.
