What Does the Renewal Course Involve?

Description

This one-day course is available for technicians and instructors whose certifications have expired as an alternative to retaking the certification course. It was designed for formerly certified individuals who have maintained their child passenger safety knowledge and their hands-on skills. It is not intended to be a shortened version of the Certification course.

After successfully completing the course, you will be sent online testing information. To complete the renewal process, you must pass the online exam. If you do not pass the hands-on portion of the course, you must retake the original certification course to become certified.

You may only take this course one time in attempt to become re-certified.

The fee for this course is $70, which includes all course materials, online exam and, upon passing, two years of certification. Should you require a re-take exam, there is a $20 fee.

PLEASE NOTE: Everyone that successfully completes the course and passes the online exam will be re-certified as a technician, including formerly certified Instructors. If they wish to become instructors, they are required reapply for instructor candidacy and successfully complete the candidacy process.

Eligibility

Registrants must currently exist in the certification system as having been nationally certified at any time since the national program began in 1998. If you are not listed in the system as having been nationally certified by either Safe Kids or AAA, you are not eligible to take the Renewal course.

Currently certified technicians and instructors are only eligible if their certification will be expired at the time of registration.
