  • Tuesday, July 18 (2-3 p.m. ET) – Head Start and CPSTs: A Match Made in Safety:  Head Start agencies across the country serve families with children from birth to kindergarten, and there are numerous ways in which CPSTs can partner with them to keep kids safe, including through parent education, bus driver training, and teaching the children how to advocate for their own safety.  Speakers in this session will share their first-hand experience to help CPSTs make meaningful connections with these families as an effective way to reach traditionally underserved and overrepresented populations. Speakers include Karen Gay, CPSTI, Transportation Management Specialist, Vision Zero DC Highway Safety Office; Melinda Hansen, MS, Health and Nutrition Coordinator, Early Childhood Education Center, Salt River Schools, and Denise Donaldson, CPSTI, owner/publisher, Safe Ride News Publications.

  • Tuesday, Aug. 15 (2-3 p.m. ET) – Thoughtfully Integrating Equity in CPS Programming: When we intentionally cultivate equitable programming and adopt thoughtful language, Child Passenger Safety Technicians can improve outcomes in their communities. Equity-based practices can improve caregiver understanding, create a comfortable and supportive environment for families and remove barriers that may prevent seeking CPST support. Britney Lombard and Sheila Galindo Vazquez from Children’s Hospital Colorado will share their processes in creating more inclusive and equitable programming for our patient families, sharing our challenges and successes along our journey.
